What are solutions to encrypt mailing list?

Although gpg became common in the last years mailing lists are still unencrypted. Ever tried to find a listserver which gives you an encrypted list? Or did you ever try to install one yourself? If you answered one question with yes you'll probably know the difficulties otherwise you certainly never thought about encrypting your mailing list. Why not?
